I was browsing through the facebook and i stumbled on this very misleading English book. The title of this book is First Steps To Good English For School Pupils. I would say..its terrible and horrendous translation especially on proverb part. I wonder who's behind this, the translation is so terrible. I dont think Goggle Translate will give such translation because it can do better than this.*facepalm*.
The story goes like this. Someone bought this book for extra reading. When she wanted to do an activity on proverbs for her students, she realized that there was something wrong with it.
The story goes like this. Someone bought this book for extra reading. When she wanted to do an activity on proverbs for her students, she realized that there was something wrong with it.
If you look at the pictures below, you will notice the errors found on the proverb section, consisting of 27 proverbs which translated wrongly and it holds misleading meaning to the students. Poor translation work will aggravate students proficiency to learn English language. Lets check it out.
This direct translation is very confusing. For example, a drowning man will clutch at a straw..it does not mean "orang yang mabuk "..what the heck. I think the person who wrote this yang mabuk..hehehe
Another one, cut your coat according to your cloth. And the person who wrote this translated "memotong baju kot". Mari aku tolong potongkan..hahaha. If you happen to pass by any bookstore, try to find this book and take more pictures or report to the bookstore.
